UNCRC
The Kintyre Base is committed to ensuring all of our young people lives their lives in accordance with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). As part of this work we have consulted with our pupils to pick priority rights to consider and improve upon this academic year. This exercise ensures we are maintaining and exemplifying the best practice in relation to childrens rights by continually challenging our staff and systems to provide each young person the tools they need to succeed as easily and as quickly as possible.
This year the following rights have been selected as priorities:
-
The best interests of the child must be a top priority in all decisions and actions that affect children (Article 3).
-
Every child has the right to relax, play and take part in a wide range of cultural and artistic activities (Article 31).
-
Every child has the right to express their views, feelings and wishes in all matter affecting them, and to have their views considered and taken seriously (Article 12).
-
Children who have experienced neglect, abuse, exploitation, torture or who are victims of war must receive special support to help them recover their health, dignity, self-respect and social life (Article 39).
